Dec 14, 2020: ATTENTION TRAIL USERS – NOTICE OF TIMBER HARVESTING ACTIVITIES AT CANDLE CREEK
Starting today December 14 the Wells Gray Community Forest WGCFC is conducting a harvest program within portions of the Candle Creek ski trail network. The program focuses on salvaging timber which is either wind damaged or has been attacked by Douglas fir beetle and will be removing green timber.
Safety of trail users and protection of existing ski and mountain bike trails is our main concern during this harvesting project. The WGCFC has waited for frozen ground conditions, to decrease the damage to the road and trails during our operations. Three small openings exist within the main network of ski trails. These areas will be harvested during December of 2020.
Please observe posted trail closure signage and be aware of industrial harvesting operations during this time. We will be out of your recreational trails as soon as we can.

Thank you
Wells Gray Community Forest.

NEW IN 2020 – The Club has designated some of the trails as CANINE Friendly!

Note to Skiers: Please be advised that there will be limited snowmobile activity on the cross country trails from mid December to mid January. Kurt Dodd Contracting will be identifying potential areas for fuel management activities (forest fire mitigation) during fall 2020. They will use adjacent roads and ungroomed trails as much as possible. Some use of groomed trails can be expected but no impact on set tracks. In most cases activity will be limited to Mon – Fri. We will keep you up to date if any changes are anticipated.
Fuel management is a necessary activity to ensure the potential for forest fires is minimized in our community. This also provides much needed employment to people in our community during trying times so please be patient with this minor inconvenience.
