For business or individuals

The Wells Gray Outdoors Club is developing a mountain biking and hiking trail network at Candle Creek for residents and visiting tourists.

We have over 10 km of completed trail. The planned completed network will be 30 km including a trail along the Raft River canyon rim. This project aligns with the District of Clearwater’s Official Community Plan for trail system connectivity.

User survey conducted in 2016 indicated an established trail network would net $250 000 in annual tourism revenues to local community.

Funding for this trail network has been provided by:

  • Wells Gray Community Forest
  • Thompson-Nicola Regional District
  • Rec Sites and Trails BC
  • BC Rural Dividend Fund
  • Kamloops Blazers

In Partnership with:

  • Simpcw First Nations
  • District of Clearwater
  • Tourism Wells Gray
  • Clearwater Chamber of Commerce
  • Rec Sites and Trails BC

The Wells Gray Outdoors Club (WGOC) and project management is operated by volunteers.

The established trail network requires annual brushing, weeding, and clearing of seasonal debris. In 2017 the WGOC hired a teen crew to complete required maintenance in addition to volunteers.
